NEW POSTINGS

Below are 6 NEW POSTINGS from these organizations: MIKE Program, Oregon Food Bank, Alberta Main Street, National College of Natural Medicine, SMART (Start Making A Reader Today), and Housecall Providers.

1. MIKE Program: Mentor for MIKE Program!

Mentors meet once per week in a high school classroom for a semester or year-long program. As a mentor, you will act as a guide and positive role model for a small group of 4-5 youth. You will be placed in a health classroom along with a team of other mentors, a health teacher, and the program manager. You will take turns providing healthy snacks to the class (paid for by MIKE Program) and facilitate small group discussions, assist with hands-on activities, participate in a field trip, and facilitate a final health leadership project in which your group will share what they learn about health within their community.

Please contact Program Manager Kristin Dreves at 503-296-7705 or kristin@mikeprogram.org.

2. Oregon Food Bank: Help Repack Food for Your Neighbors in Need!

Hunger doesn’t take a break in the summer, and neither do we! In fact, the summer months are when we need your help THE MOST! When you volunteer, you’re changing people’s lives and helping them succeed. You’re giving the gift of hope! We have food repack shifts at our Portland and Beaverton locations Monday through Saturday throughout the day. Families are welcome.

Visit the Volunteer page at our website here: oregonfoodbank.org/Volunteer to learn more about the opportunities and sign up!

3. Alberta Main Street: Volunteer at the Alberta Street Fair!

Come one, come all – the 18th Annual Alberta Street Fair returns to celebrate community with a toast to summer on Saturday, August 8th! We need your help to make the day a smashing success. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the fair, so pick one that is perfect for you! Most volunteer shifts are 3 hours long. In addition to helping put on a great community event, you will receive a super cool t-shirt and a ticket for a beer in the beer garden (of course, only if you are over 21). Plus, an invitation to our not-to-be-missed volunteer party in September!

6. Housecall Providers: Patient Care/Hospice Volunteers

Our program currently has volunteer opportunities available for compassionate men and women who have a desire to make a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Housecall Providers volunteers bring comfort to patients who are nearing the end-of-life and offer a calm presence to those afflicted with dementia or Alzheimer’s. Volunteers provide respite to caregivers (usually a three hour shift) or an hour-long friendly visit once a week.

Potential volunteers must complete four comprehensive evening training sessions prior to making visits and also have the opportunity to receive ongoing education and support throughout the year.

Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, pass a background check and two TB tests (provided by us) to participate in this opportunity. Individuals are encouraged to wait a year after the loss of a significant person before serving as a volunteer working with patients, families or caregivers.
