Friends of Trees Crew Leaders for 16-17 Planting Season!

Being a Crew Leader with Friends of Trees comes with lots of great benefits: explore new sites of the Portland Metro area, meet lots of really great people who also want to create a positive change in their community, learn about the proper techniques to plant and care for native trees and plants, gain leadership skills that are invaluable in any line of work, and more!

Crew Leaders demonstrate how to plant trees properly while maintaining a fun, safe, and educational environment at our planting events. This is a dynamic and social leadership role best suited for people wanting to learn more about tree health, get their hands dirty outdoors, and gain or improve their group leadership skills.

We will be holding training sessions for both our Green Space and Neighborhood Trees programs. Training is FREE (registration required) and we ask that all new Crew Leaders commit to 4 Saturday planting events between November and April.

Training Dates:
  • Green Space, October 29th, 9am-3pm (NW Portland)
  • Neighborhood Trees, Nov 5th, 9am-1pm (SE Portland)
  • Neighborhood Trees, Nov 12th, 9am-1pm (West Vancouver)

About the Organization

Friends of Trees is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to bring people together to plant and care for city trees and green spaces in Pacific Northwest communities.

Through our Neighborhood Trees program, homeowners buy discounted trees to plant with their neighbors at weekend plantings. These trees are planted by groups of volunteers and neighbors during our Saturday planting events.

Through our Green Space Program, trained crew leaders guide volunteers at weekend events to restore green spaces. Volunteers are led by trained crew leaders to plant thousands of trees and plants across the Portland metro area.
