PCC Cascade: Announcing Cascade’s children’s book drive!
Posted by hannah.cherry
Donate books to help address a critical need in Portland communities!
Cascade Campus is conducting a children’s book drive in partnership with the Children’s Book Bank, a nonprofit organization which works to put new or gently used books into the hands of kids from low-income or traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. The plan is to present the books we have collected to the CBB at the Nov. 15 Cascade Campus Community Open House celebration.
There are four donation stations set up around campus where you can drop off your books:
- the Info Booth in the Student Union;
- the circulation desk in the Library;
- the Answer Center in the lobby of the Student Services Building;
- and the campus administration office, SSB 209.
Books will be accepted up until the close of business on Monday, Nov. 14.
Any new or gently used children’s book will be gratefully accepted. However, as part of its “Story Like Mine” initiative, the CBB is particularly interested in books that focus on non-mainstream cultures or characters. For example, books with prominent characters of color, or books that tell culturally specific stories.
