Northeast Emergency Food Program: Sacajawea Mobile Pantry Coordinator
Posted by hannah.cherry
Sacajawea Mobile Pantry Coordinator
Hours: Tuesdays from 10:30am – 1pm throughout the school year
Responsibilities: Load up the NEFP box truck with extra food from the pantry (vegetables, fruit, yogurt, fun snacks, etc). Drive to Sacajawea Head Start (located a block east of NEFP), and allow parents to “shop” from the back of the truck. Distribute food for ~2 hours, leave whatever is left with the school, and drive back to NEFP by 1pm.
Details: NEFP began a mobile pantry the 2015-2016 school year to better support the parents of students at Sacajawea Head Start. We served about 40 families every week throughout the year with the mobile pantry. The Coordinator interacts with the same families every week, and must display some intercultural communication skills. Spanish is a plus.

About the Organization
Northeast Emergency Food Program meets the urgent food needs of our north and northeast Portland neighbors while working to develop community solutions to secure access to adequate, affordable and healthy food. We ground our work in the belief that nutritious food is a basic human need and a building block for a healthy life of possibility. Northeast Emergency Food Program is a vital part of the community ministry network of the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. Our food program is a community-based response to the unmet food needs of our neighbors.
