Play and learn about becoming a Coach-Mentor with Active Children Portland.

  • Who: Active Children Portland
  • What: Coaches and Friends 5v5 Tournament
  • Where: Providence Park
  • When: February 26th, 2017 12-5 pm
  • Why: Active Children Portland, along with support from Stand Together and the Portland Timbers, is hosting a 5v5 tournament on the Providence Park field for all of our current and future coaches and their friends and family. As an organization, we are aiming to help 2,000 youth in our Fall 2017 soccer season, and with this growth comes a need for coaches. This event will help us expand our reach and build relationships with more people in more communities around Portland, all while having fun playing soccer on the nicest pitch in Portland. Timbers’ and Thorns’ players will be making appearances throughout the day as well.

We would like to open this event to anyone interested in learning more about our programs and what it means to be a Coach-Mentor, work with Portland area social service partners, and become a part of the Active Children Portland community.

About the Organization

Active Children Portland keeps children active in their club, classroom, and community. Programming is an active and holistic approach to childhood development, which includes sports, creative writing, nutrition education, and service learning projects.

Active Children Portland’s mission is to empower students to lead healthy lives, succeed academically, and inspire positive community engagement. The organization began in 2011 with the vision to transform communities and serve hundreds of local students through youth sports. Active Children Portland program participants receive programming 30 weeks a year, 4 days per week, which keeps them active, healthy, and engaged in a positive and stable after-school environment. Our programs focus on helping all participants to develop the confidence and life skills they need to succeed. We believe that by taking a holistic and comprehensive approach to youth-development, and by focusing on kids who need it the most, we CAN make a positive difference for the next generation.
