Adventist Health Hospice: Looking for Student Volunteers!
Posted by Madison Omohundro
Adventist Health Hospice is Looking for Student Volunteers!
Adventist Health Hospice has volunteer opportunities available for students who want to learn about hospice and healthcare while fulfilling their volunteer hours or educational requirements. Hospice Volunteers provide emotional, spiritual, physical and social support for terminally ill patients and their families to help balance the spirit of living at the end of life. We have service opportunities for:
- Companionship
- Caregiver Relief
- End of Life Support
- Creative Arts (sewing, knitting, crocheting, music, crafts, singing etc.)
- Bereavement Support
- Office/Administrative Duties
- Care for patient’s pets
- Recording a patient’s life story, etc.
Many of our student volunteers have found that supplementing their academic experience with this hands-on experiential learning enhanced their college experience. It’s also a great way to explore the fields of hospice or healthcare.
Volunteer opportunities are available all summer long and throughout the school year should you like to make a longer term commitment. We ask, however, that you commit to volunteering 2 to 4 hours a week. All activities take place in a variety of settings or wherever the patient calls home or in the case of Office/Administrative Duties, which take place at our offices located at 5835 NE 122nd Ave, Suite Portland, OR 97230.
