Girls Inc. of the Pacific Northwest: High School Girls Groups Programming Internship Position

Position Description
The High School Girls Groups Programming Intern will work directly with the Director of Programs and the Program Team to support the development, oversight, implementation, and success of high school programs. The intern will facilitate high school groups, refine and build on curriculum, collect data, and help design a working model for engaging high school girls. We will provide the intern with the training, supplies, curriculum, and support they will need in order to successfully complete assigned tasks. The intern will develop group facilitation techniques, learn about gender specific programming, and have a genuine impact on teenage girls’ lives while helping us meet our programming goals for high school youth.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate up to 3 high school Girls Group
- Girls Groups meet once a week for the duration of the school year, typically during after-school hours. Each group meets for 1.5 – 2 hours per week.
- Facilitators hold 2-5 hours in office each week (depending on how many groups the intern facilitates) in order to prepare for groups, complete administrative tasks, and support outreach and recruitment efforts.
Requirements
- Interest in curriculum design/editing/implementation
- Ability to conduct self-directed research
- Computer, Google Docs and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
- Attendance and participation in a facilitator training
- Submit to a background check
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- The ability to commit to 5-20 hours per week (flexible depending on your schedule)
- Responsible, mature, and reliable character.
- Ability to commit to creating and maintaining relationships with a diverse group of girls
