Friends of Trees: Help your community select trees for their home–become a Tree Caller!
Posted by hannah.cherry
Join Friends of Trees on Wednesday evenings starting in September from 6-8pm to grow greener Portland and Vancouver neighborhoods!
Our Tree Caller Volunteers help our ‘treecipients’ pick out new trees for their homes. You’ll learn about the different types of trees Friends of Trees plants, and how to help neighbors navigate the FOT website and tree ordering process.
This is a very social volunteer role, great for someone interested in refining their phone calling and customer service skills.
Pre-existing tree knowledge not required, we have descriptions of trees and a staff member will always be present to support you.
**A short orientation is required** and you’ll be asked to commit to at least three Wednesday evenings at our office at 3117 NE MLK Blvd in NE Portland (the #6 bus stops within a block of our office). Total time commitment is about 4-5 Wednesdays over the course of the September-February calling season.

About the Organization
The Friends of Trees Neighborhood Trees program works with Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services, Vancouver Urban Forestry, the City of Beaverton, the City of Salem, and the City of Eugene to offer homeowners great prices for quality trees and help bring thousands of more trees to our city’s lowest-canopy neighborhoods.
About the Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter
The Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter allows students, faculty, and staff at PCC a more comprehensive look at volunteer needs and opportunities from our community partners. Our hope is that the newsletter will allow subscribers to stay better informed about community service opportunities in the tri-county areas of Portland, Oregon, as well as non-profit internships and scholarships available locally and nationally.
