Friends of Trees: Plant Along the Columbia Slough (Saturday, March 10th)
Posted by Madison Omohundro
Join Friends of Trees, in partnership with Portland OIC and Portland Parks and Recreation, to restore a special two-acre parcel of the Columbia Slough by planting native trees and shrubs!
No experience necessary, tools, planting guidance, and plenty of hot coffee, tea, and breakfast treats provided! Just come dressed for the weather and the work, planting trees is muddy business, so sturdy, close-toed shoes, and warm, water-resistant layers that you don’t mind getting dirty are highly encouraged.
- When: Saturday, March 10th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. (Please arrive around 8:45am to be assigned a planting crew and enjoy some free breakfast snacks and hot coffee/tea. The event will start promptly at 9:00am.
- Where: Columbia Slough Natural Area, 11058 NE Simpson St., Portland, OR. 97220 (look for Friends of Trees signs as you get close!)
Groups of volunteers are welcome! We love a planting posse! We ask that any group of 5 or more simply pre-register via our Group Registration Form.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to be in touch with our Volunteer and Outreach Program at 503-595-0213. We hope to you there!
Special shout out to the Port of Portland and East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District for their support of this work!

About the Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter
The Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter allows students, faculty, and staff at PCC a more comprehensive look at volunteer needs and opportunities from our community partners. Our hope is that the newsletter will allow subscribers to stay better informed about community service opportunities in the tri-county areas of Portland, Oregon, as well as non-profit internships and scholarships available locally and nationally.
