The Shadow Project: Kids Need Audiobook Mentors
Posted by hannah.cherry
Do you want to make a difference for children with learning challenges like dyslexia, ADHD, and autism?
Become an audiobook mentor and empower our students to get hooked on reading and reach their potential! Shadow Project audiobook mentors meet with elementary school age students one-on-one, helping them learn to use an online audio-visual book library designed specifically for children with learning challenges. Mentors guide children in exploring their interests, find books they love, and read more!
You’d make a great mentor for a child with learning challenges if you are able to:
- Commit 2 hours a week, during school hours, October to May (3 months minimum)
- Interact compassionately with children who are diverse learners, encouraging them to set reading goals and celebrate their progress
- Complete a background check We have opportunities at Markham School!
We have opportunities at a number of schools! Markham Elementary is particularly close to Sylvania Campus.

About the Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter
The Volunteer Opportunities Newsletter allows students, faculty, and staff at PCC a more comprehensive look at volunteer needs and opportunities from our community partners. Our hope is that the newsletter will allow subscribers to stay better informed about community service opportunities in the tri-county areas of Portland, Oregon, as well as non-profit internships and scholarships available locally and nationally.
