Development Leaders needed for Team Event

The Alzheimer’s Association Oregon Chapter is seeking creative and highly collaborative volunteer leaders to make an early commitment to be Team Captains for our signature event The Longest Day®, a team event to raise funds to fuel the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. Held annually on the summer solstice, the duration of this sunrise-to-sunset event symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers. Teams are encouraged to create their own experience as they fundraise and participate in an activity they love to fight for those facing the disease; in 2015, 7,289 participants across 2,307 teams for The Longest Day raised over $3 million by biking, hiking, doing yoga, making music and participating in a number of other creative activities.

Team Captains are responsible for a number of key functions:

  • being the liaison between your team and the Alzheimer’s Association;
  • assisting with marketing and promotion of the event;
  • developing a dynamic activity and structure for your team’s Longest Day;
  • recruiting team members and assisting them with registration;
  • meeting your own participant fundraising goals by reaching out to your personal and professional networks;
  • meeting team-wide fundraising goals by providing ongoing support and fundraising ideas.

In addition, Team Captains will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Alzheimer’s Association’s Development Department on third-party fundraising events and cause marketing initiatives at local businesses.
