“How much of our history shapes our identity? How much of our identity is imposed rather than cultivated?” –Tammy Jo Wilson
Cascade Gallery presents Tammy Jo Wilson’s new and recent work exploring identity and race. Using a variety of media and processes including photography, video, and fabric, Wilson questions our assumptions around race and identity. Her content pushes us to think again; literally and figuratively, to step back to gain perspective; and to accept an unclear answer.
Perspective: a subjective evaluation, relative, malleable, and in constant flux
Tammy Jo Wilson has exhibited up and down the West Coast and across the US. In 2012 her work was purchased by Multnomah County for the Portable Works Collection. In 2013 she was the recipient of an Oregon Arts Commission Grant for her work with the Women’s Caucus for Art. Wilson holds a BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland and an MFA from San Jose State University in California.
