Changes in POD Grant Funding

Posted by

Please see below for upcoming changes to the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) grant programs. The changes are meant to provide equitable opportunity for staff to receive funding, assist with responsible fiscal management, and create efficiencies with the process. Please visit our website for more information.

Please see a summary of the changes highlighted below:

Conference/Workshop Grants (changes will be implemented July 1, 2018)

  • The maximum amount of funding increased from $500 to $600 (overnight expenses)
  • Addition of max funding for local conferences – $300
  • Employees are eligible for one or the other, not both (local vs overnight) up to the amounts listed above
  • Applications will be accepted during application periods (to be announced) instead of on a rolling basis. Employees will need to plan ahead to ensure they apply at least six weeks before the conference they would like to attend.
  • The number of people per department and/or per campus to receive funding to attend the same conference will be limited to three employees per department and/or per campus/district office.

Innovative Project Grants

  • Funding can be used for up to two terms (six months) whereas previously the funding has to be spent by the end of the term it was awarded
  • There are two application periods instead of one application period per term
