PCC Landscape Program Presents Landscape and Horticulture Career Day

Thursday, May 1, approximately 250 area high school students and teachers and parents will spend a morning learning about opportunities in the landscaping field at Portland Community College’s Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. The landscape and horticulture career day is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
Students will receive an overview of the industry in Building 3, the Forum, followed by breakout sessions from professionals working in the field, including greenhouse and nursery operators, golf course superintendents, landscape construction contractors, landscape designers and architects, landscape maintenance operators and arborists.
Information about specific occupations, how to get started, career options, and salaries and benefits will be covered. Students will also tour PCC’s landscape computer assisted design lab and greenhouses. Exhibits will be set up in the mall area of Building 3.
The event is sponsored by the following landscaping and horticulture groups: the Oregon Association of Nurserymen, the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Oregon Landscape Contractors Association, the International Society of Arborists, the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, the Oregon Golf Course Superintendents Association and PCC’s Landscape Technology program.
