British National Student Debate Team Invade PCC's Sylvania Campus

The Portland Community College forensics team will welcome the British national debate team for a mock parliamentary debate on Oct. 28.

What:

A free, open to the public, parliamentary-style debate on PCC’s Sylvania Campus.

Who:

The British national debate team vs. our own PCC debaters.

When:

Tuesday, Oct. 28, 12 p.m.

Performing Arts Center, Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave., Portland.

Details:

The mock debate will cap a fund-raising driveto send four PCC students to the 18th annual World Universities Debating Championships in Athens, Greece in December. The prestigious annual tournament will host more than 500 competitors from over 40 countries.

The raffle drawing itself will take place later that evening at the downtown Greek Cusina restaurant, 404 S.W. Washington Street, at 8 p.m. The evening of fun is also open to the public, and will be your last chance to buy raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are $1 and will also be for sale at the debate.

The raffle’s grand prize is a weekend package for two to Reno, including round trip airfare for two, plus two nights hotel accommodations.
