Kircher Art Show at PCC's Sylvania Campus
Photos and story by Mark Evertz
A reception will be held for Portland artist Zack Kircher on Thursday evening, Nov. 6, at the opening of an exhibit of his recent paintings. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Northview Gallery on Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus in Southwest Portland.
Kircher describes his work as a glance back at the "High Modern" era, blending a haze of nostalgia and personal and pop images with references to the "High Art" from those self-assured 1950s and 1960s.
With a postmodern, image-glut aesthetic and a sometimes transgressive sense of composition, Kircher’s work provides a complex and sometimes humorous viewing experience.
The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 12. Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PCC’s Sylvania Campus is located at 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Northview Gallery is located in the Communications Technology Building, Room 214.
