Become a Saturday Scholar at PCC Cascade

PORTLAND – Spend your cold winter Saturdays writing prose or poetry, or trying to understand human behavior and appreciate the art of writing in Shakespeare. Earn up to six credits in 11 Saturdays at Portland Community College’s Cascade Campus in North Portland.
Try one of these three-credit classes, all of which start on
Jan. 10:
English Composition (WR 121) – Almost everyone has to take it, but you can turn this requirement into an opportunity to explore your world and your ideas about it through writing. Meets in the Student Center, Room 203, from 9 to 11:50 a.m.
English Composition (WR 122) – You may just want to complete your writing requirements, but why not have fun by challenging your analytical abilities at the same time? Meets in the Student Services Building, Room 223, from 9 to 11:50 a.m.
Creative Writing: Poetry (WR 242/245) – Whether you’re a beginner or have been writing poetry for some time, this workshop course will help you develop your skills. Taught by an active, enthusiastic, publishing poet. Meets in the Student Center, Room 201, from 9 to 11:50 a.m.
Shakespeare (ENG 201) – Explore the impact Shakespeare’s works have on us and discuss why they may continue to appeal to audiences into the 21st century. Look closely at a number of plays and view contemporary Shakespeare cinema for comparison. Taught by a high-energy, entertaining, and thought-provoking Shakespeare scholar. Meets in the Student Center, Room 303, from 1 to 3:50 p.m.
