African Film Director Kwaw P. Ansah, headliner for PCC's 10th Annual African Film Festival, to meet

Portland Community College hosts a media availability session for Ghanian film director Kwaw P. Ansah on Feb. 3, 2 p.m., at the Cascade Campus of Portland Community College,705 N. Killingsworth. It is scheduled in Terrell Hall, Room 122.
Ansah will open PCC’s 10th Annual African Film Festival the following evening at Jefferson High School with his acclaimed film "Heritage Africa," the 1989 winner of the Pan-African Film Festival in Ouagadougou. Ansah, one of Africa’s leading filmmakers, is also a renowned playwright, composer, artist, and communications and advertising director. His film, "Heritage Africa" (1988), is one of the most powerful and innovative films to come out of English-speaking Africa, according to film critic Frank Ukadike. The film deals with actual historical events and makes profound statements about colonialism and African struggles for freedom.
Ansah will entertain questions about his filmmaking as well as the personal challenges for filmmakers in Africa, and cultural and historical issues as they relate to African films.
