PCC’s Germond Re-appointed to Hanford Waste Board

PORTLAND, ORE. – Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber has re-appointed Norma Jean Germond, Portland Community College board member for Zone 1, to the Oregon Hanford Waste Board for another four-year term. Germond has served two previous terms on the Hanford Waste Board and chairs its public involvement committee. She is also on the federal 32-member Hanford advisory board that consults with the Department of Energy, Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Washington on cleanup of Hanford. Germond also chairs that board’s public involvement committee.
Germond’s zone includes Tigard, Lake Oswego and Sherwood. She is a resident of Lake Oswego.
PCC is the largest institution of higher learning in the state, serving almost 900,000 residents in a five-county, 1,500-square-mile area in northwest Oregon. The district includes the state’s largest city, Portland, and the most rapidly growing population areas in the state. A seven-member board of directors elected by zones for four-year terms governs the college. The board selects the president and approves the hiring of other staff and faculty, approves the college budget and establishes policy, which govern the operation of the college.
