PCC Class Helps Spanish-Speakers Survive With English

NEWBERG – Conducting a normal life in the United States can be rough without solid English skills. Thanks to Portland Community College, those in the Spanish-speaking community who need a foundation in English can now get it and build a prosperous future. In the non-credit class Survival English I, Spanish-speaking students will get an introduction to Basic English. Students with no prior experience speaking English will be able to get a basic understanding of the language so they can communicate effectively and responsibly. The class is free of charge.Registration and testing for the class will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 25, at Newberg High School, located at 1300 Elliott Road in Newberg. The 11-week Survival English I will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m., beginning Tuesday, Sept. 26 and will run every Tuesday and Thursday until Dec. 5. There will be no class on Thursday, Nov. 23.
