NEWBERG/SHERWOOD – Haven’t spoken Spanish since college, or since that fabulous vacation to Mexico? Portland Community College’s Community Education program is offering two classes designed for those students needing a refresher course, or detailed introduction, in the Spanish language. The non-credit courses are Beginning Spanish Conversational and Spanish Conversational II, and they will help get students back into the nuances of speaking Spanish.Beginning Spanish Conversational – This Spanish class is for the beginner and no previous Spanish courses are needed. Text and material information will be available at the first class by instructor Darielle Simms. The 10-week class will run every Monday from 8 to10 a.m., starting Monday, Sept. 25 and ending Nov. 27. The cost of the class is $63 and will be held at the Sherwood Senior Center, located at 855 N. Sherwood Road. Spanish Conversational Beginning Level II – This 10-week class is geared for those who have had some Spanish. It is an interactive course with an emphasis on speaking ability and oral comprehension. Instructor Francisco Benetti has designed the course to continue building and maintaining Spanish skills. The course will meet every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., starting Thursday, Sept. 28 and ending Nov. 30 (no class on Nov. 23). The cost will be $60. The class will be held in room 407 at Newberg High School, located at 1300 Elliott Road in Newberg. For more information, contact Community Education at 503-538-9774.
