PCC to Host 16th Annual Community Service Fair

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – Portland Community College will host its 16th Annual Community Service Fair, which will feature local programs allowing people to make work experience part of their education. It will also spotlight representatives from a variety of agencies who will discuss the opportunities of volunteer and paid positions available with their organizations. The purpose of the fair is to educate students about options that will help them earn Cooperative Education credits through PCC as well as show the multitude of community services available.The Community Service Fair will take place in the upper mall of the CC Building on the Sylvania Campus between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15. People can come to the fair and talk to someone from such professional areas as youth, Hispanic and women services, environmental programs, refugee services and hospices. Some agencies that will attend include Community Advocates, State of Oregon Human Resources Community Partnership Team, Learn Links of YWCA, Planned Parenthood of Columbia-Willamette, Portland Women’s Crisis Line, Salvation Army and World Forestry Center. Organizers for the fair expect 30 to 40 organizations to participate and about 200 people in attendance. The fair is sponsored by the Sylvania Campus Cooperative Education program.
