PCC Faculty, Students Present ?Into the Woods' Musical

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – The Portland Community College Theater Arts department will present the musical play "Into the Woods,"beginning Thursday, March 8 and running through March 10, and again Thursday, March 15 through March 17. All of the shows are at 7:30 p.m. in the performing arts center on the Sylvania Campus, located at 12000 SW 49th Ave. "Into the Woods"is a challenging and exciting musical involving PCC faculty and students about an enchanted and dangerous woods, teeming with all of your favorite fairy tale characters.James Lapine wrote "Into the Woods"and Stephen Sondheim composed the play’s music. The musical combines the classic fairy tale stories of "Cinderella,""Little Red Riding Hood,""Jack and the Beanstalk"and "The Baker and his Wife."Greed, desire, blame, love and the influence parents have on their children are all woven into one story. Dan Hays, technical coordinator and scenic designer, will work with students to construct sets for the musical; Steven Dahlke, guest musical director, will conduct a nine-piece orchestra; and Sue Parks-Hilden, theater arts instructor and play director, will unite more than 60 PCC students to create the production.PCC student cast members include Tom Russell and Alexa Walker of Aloha, Alex Salazar and Danielle Ward of Beaverton, Jancie Beach and Jenni Wong of Gresham, Bud Reece and Nicholina Terzieff of Hillsboro, Erin Charles and Barbara Weiland of Lake Oswego, Mark Meek of Milwaukie, and Anne Du Fresne, Anne McKee, Maille O’Brien, Mark Robb, Bonnie Robb, Mike Hochstatter, Timothy Scarrott, Mike Stanfill, Lindsay Thomas and Laura Wakeman of Portland.On Thursday, March 15, the show will be interpreted for the hearing impaired.
