Horsemanship Classes Cover Basic and Intermediate Care

SCAPPOOSE, Ore. – Basic and intermediate non-credit horsemanship classes are being offered summer term by Portland Community College.Orientation to Horsemanship and Care Beginning will meet from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Mondays, June 25 through Aug. 6, at Larame Stables, located four miles north of Cornelius Pass Road on Highway 30 in Scappoose. Instructor Megan Antijunti will lead students 16 years and older through the basics of haltering, leading, grooming, groundwork, Western/English skills, health and preventive care, and safety and responsibility. Class will not be held July 23. Tuition for the beginning class is $10. A $100 fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.Orientation to Horsemanship and Care Intermediate will meet from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Tuesdays, June 26 through Aug. 14, at Larame Stables. Also taught by Antijunti and open to students 16 years and older, the intermediate class will cover in more detail topics presented in the beginning class. Class will not be held July 3 or July 24.
