Two Items: Masking Creativity in This PCC Creative Arts Class

NORTH/NORTHEAST PORTLAND – Bring paper mache to life with a fun and creative Portland Community College class, Moving in Mask: Improvisational Mask and Performance. This non-credit offering will allow students to create sculptural paper mache masks that come to life by developing one’s own movement vocabulary.This eight-week class will run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday between Sept. 25 and Nov. 13 in room 124 of the Portland Metropolitan Workforce Training Center, 5600 N.E. 42nd Ave. Cost is $84. Instructor Jenna McGillis will show students how to use masks to improvise and discover the joy of spontaneous creation.Discover Myth and Story Through DragonsNORTH/NORTHEAST PORTLAND – Also, at the Portland Metro Workforce Training Center is the class, The Dragons Apprentice, studying dragons in myth and story. Instructor Diana Hartzell will help students practice dealing with inner and outer dragons by using an intellectually playful exercise with some physical activity. The non-credit class will run from 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday from Sept. 26 to Oct. 24 in room 112.
