TWO ITEMS:This PCC Class is for the ZooBEAVERTON, Ore. – Ever wanted to know about your local zoo, or have a mind to know how zoos came into being? Then check out the non-credit class Zoos! this fall at Portland Community College. The class will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday from Oct. 2-16 in Room A-12 at Cedar Park Middle School, located at 11100 S.W. Parkway. Cost is $24.Instructor John Kiley will tackle how zoos are relevant to today’s environmental ethics and will teach the history of zoos, the roles they play in wildlife conservation and how they relate to issues of management of animals in captivity. There will be a guided trip to the Oregon Zoo. For more information, contact Community Education at 503-533-2707.####Students Can Make Own Brew With PCC ClassBEAVERTON, Ore. – Learn to become an amateur brewmaster by gaining the knowledge of brewing and bottling with a new non-credit Portland Community College class. Bear Making 101 will be held 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday Oct. 2 and 23, and Thursday Oct. 11 and Nov. 1 at the Westside U-BREW, located at 8620 S.W. Nimbus. Cost is $18, plus $30 materials fee payable to U-BREW at the start of first class.Students will work in teams of three to make four gallons of their own brew to take home and taste.
