Veteran to Lead Discussion of Vietnam Era at PCC

SYLVANIA CAMPUS – Vietnam War veteran, educator and writer Steven Shinn will present a one-day, non-credit workshop on the war from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20 in HT 323 on Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus, 12000 S.W. 49th Ave. Tuition is $21.The Vietnam War was waged from 1945-75, and yet nearly 30 years later many Americans still don’t understand how and why the United States got involved, according to Shinn. He will explore this critical period in American history that claimed the lives of 3 million Vietnamese and 58,000 Americans. After presenting an overview of the conflict, he will lead a discussion on how the war is currently impacting society today.For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 731-6620.
