New Alliance at PCC Provides Workforce Services

ALOHA, Ore. – Portland Community College and its partners have created a one-stop resource for business and industry. The newly developed Workforce Alliance, located at PCC’s Capital Career Center One Stop (185th and Walker Road), is a partnership of local employment and training organizations whose goal is to provide an efficient, easy-to-access connection to customized recruitment, training, retention and outplacement services for businesses."We are very busy supporting businesses and job seekers,"said Marina Santos, PCC’s coordinator of business services for the Workforce Alliance. "The Workforce Alliance effectively connects people to work and growth opportunities. We are a valuable service provider for businesses and job seekers in the county."The Workforce Alliance, which consists of 17 workforce service organizations, will help businesses that are looking to relocate to the Portland area. In addition, the Workforce Alliance is a point of reference to research local government, tax laws and infrastructure. The alliance began on Oct. 24 with a kick-off ceremony. Janet Young, manager of the City of Beaverton Economic Development Department; Rob Drake, Beaverton mayor; and PCC President Jesus Carreon were featured speakers at the event.Partners of the Workforce Alliance include PCC’s Capital Career Center, Customized and Workplace Training at PCC, Oregon Employment Department, Oregon Economic and Community Development, Workforce Systems, Inc., Tualatin Resource Center, Vocation Rehabilitation Division, Tualatin Valley Centers, Washington County Housing Services, Community Action Organization, Oregon Human Development Corporation, Senior and Disabled Services, Washington County Community Corrections, Adult and Family Services, Forest Grove Family Resource Center, Green Thumb – Experience Works, and SMS Services.For more information, call Marina Santos at 503-533-2946, or email at alliance@pcc.edu.
