Nine-Week Course Digs Deep Into Gardening Techniques

BEAVERTON, Ore. – From design and lawn care to pest control and irrigation, a comprehensive Portland Community College gardening course will walk students through the secrets of successful gardening in the Pacific Northwest. This spring, students can sign up for the entire non-credit Home Gardening Series offered in Beaverton or take individual classes depending on their interests. Each lecture in the series will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday, April 2 through May 28, at PCC’s Workforce Training Center at the Capital Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Cost is $54 for the series or $10 per class. Subjects include Landscaping Design (April 2), Improving Soil (April 9), Trees, Shrubs and Rose Care (April 16), Annuals, Perennials and Bulbs (April 23), Fruits and Vegetables (April 30), Lawn Care (May 7), Pest Control (May 14), Pruning (May 21), and Watering and Irrigation (May 28).
