Capture Northwest Vistas on Canvas with PCC Painting Class

Photos and story by

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Transform oils and acrylics into Northwest forests and rivers this summer. Landscape Painting, a Portland Community College non-credit class, will offer students the chance to dip in to our local natural wonders while developing solid painting techniques and style. With a field trip scheduled every week, Instructor Madeline Janovec will emphasize fully experiencing your subject as the key to great landscape painting: "The moist, cool, growing landscape brings me an awareness of the earth and of our personal connection to it,"said Janovec. "This class will give students the chance to paint outdoors and experience how this connection can tap the artist in all of us." Janovec a retired Clark College art teacher, has become a noted landscape painter, with exhibitions of her work shown throughout the U.S. and abroad. The class will meet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 6 through Aug. 17, at PCC’s Capitol Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Cost is $99.
