Women: Weight Training Can Be Your Strength

Photos and story by

NEWBERG, Ore. – One of the easiest and fastest ways to lose weight and improve strength is through weight training – yet many women are still wary of incorporating weights into their workout for fear of developing a masculine, "muscle look." Instructor Rob Bascu will take the myths out of weight training and show women how to use weights correctly for outstanding results. The Portland Community College 11-week course is designed for students to achieve measurable strength, fitness and metabolic rate increases, as well as a healthier body image. All fitness levels are welcome. Women’s Weight Training, a non-credit course, will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. every Thursday, June 27 through Sept. 5, at PCC’s Newberg Center, 301 N. Elliott Road. Cost is $45.For more information, contact Tsipora Dimant, PCC Community Education manager, at 503-538-9774.
