Free Brown-Bag Lectures to Focus on Better Communication, Life Satisfaction

DOWNTOWN PORTLAND – Instead of whittling away the lunch hour at your desk, take advantage of the midday break with a series of free lectures designed to empower your decisions and help you lead a more satisfying life. Portland Community College will offer a non-credit Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Series from noon to 1 p.m. each Thursday beginning Oct. 3 through Nov. 7 in the first floor meeting room at the Multnomah County Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave.Topics are as follows:Power for Gentle People (Oct. 3). We all can’t roar like lions, but everyone deserves to heard and respected. Speaker Kathy Edwards will teach you how to speak up for yourself, overcome shyness and handle confrontation.Power of Nonverbal Communication (Oct. 10). What does your body language communicate? Speaker Edward Washington shares how your facial expressions, gestures and voice send silent messages.Balance in Your Life (Oct. 17). Where am I now and where do I want to be? Speaker Mary Franklin will show participants how to take steps to answer these questions to lead more balanced and fulfilling lives.Sharpen Your Communication Skills (Oct. 24). Speaker Judy Pearson shares tips for getting your point across, becoming more productive and communicating more effectively for a healthier, happier you.Imagination or Intuition? (Oct. 31). When should hunches be trusted? Speaker Suzanne Jauchius will uncover how to tune in to your intuition to make better choices at work and home.Dream It, Plan It, Do It (Nov. 7).
