PCC Yoga Classes – Build Body Strength, Mental Focus

PORTLAND, Ore. – Yoga stretches both the body and mind, and is a proven technique for lowering stress and establishing a healthier lifestyle. This fall, Portland Community College will offer three non-credit yoga classes in downtown Portland. Each class will take place at Yhoga Bhoga, located on the fourth floor of The Galleria, 921 S.W. Morrison, and will be led by instructor Tsipora Dimant.Yoga for Back Care will present modified yoga poses and breathing techniques to alleviate neck and back pain as well as gentle approaches to building strength and coping with stress. The class will meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Saturdays, Sept. 28 through Dec. 7. Cost is $75. Power Yoga/Ashtanga will incorporate a vigorous, flowing style, linking breathing and movement. Poses are joined together with a sun-salutation sequence to build endurance, upper body strength and mental focus. Students can expect a serious workout. The class will be offered twice this fall: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 28 through Dec. 7; and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 24 through Nov. 26. Cost for each class is $75. Beginning Yoga will teach students the basic hatha yoga poses in a fun, low-pressure environment. Students will improve strength, flexibility, balance and concentration. The class will be offered twice this fall: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 26 through Dec. 5; and noon to 1:15 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 24 through Nov. 26. Cost for each class is $75.
