Photos and story by

PORTLAND, Ore. – Artists, photographers, designers and hobbyists all rely on Adobe Photoshop for graphic design work. Now you can join the ranks of millions who have already discovered the incredible possibilities of this software with an online class offered by Portland Community College. Intro to Photoshop 7, a non-credit course, will take an in-depth look at the most practical features of this software. Students will learn how to create a variety of special effects and how best to create and save images for the Web. With Photoshop 7 already loaded on their own PC’s, students can perfect Web graphics techniques on their own time, in an interactive online class, from a nationally recognized digital artist. Sherry London is the author of a number of books on Photoshop, and her Photoshop art has been featured in Fiber Arts Magazine and exhibited at the Embroiderer’s Guild of America Fiber Forum group shows nationwide. London is also the owner of her own digital art studio. Students can register by visiting www.ourcoursescome2u.com. The course will be held three times this winter: Wednesday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Feb. 21; Wednesday, Feb. 12 through Friday, March 21; and Wednesday, March 12 through Friday, April 18. Students can open the lessons anytime for the duration of the course. Cost is $69. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-731-6619.
