TWO ITEMS: Try on a PCC Online Class and Launch Your Own Web Site

PORTLAND, Ore. – For anyone who has ever considered taking an online course, an opportunity to build your own Web site might be just the place to start. Portland Community College will offer a non-credit online course in Creating Web Pages this January. With this six-week, hands-on workshop, Instructor Craig Power will lead students through the fundamentals of Web design and the capabilities of the Internet. Students will plan the content, structure and layout of their Web site; create pages full of formatted text; build links between their pages and cyberspace; and add color, backgrounds, graphics, tables, animation and more. They’ll also learn some low-cost Web marketing strategies, and how to secure the best possible location in search engine listings. The result is your own Web site, ready to be launched on the Internet. Students can register by visiting www.ourcoursescome2u.com. The course will be held from Wednesday, Jan. 15 through Friday, Feb. 21. Two lessons are released each week for six weeks, and students have eight weeks to complete the course. This March, Portland Community College will present an online course to explain how to diagnose and fix common problems with PC’s. Intro to PC Troubleshooting, a non-credit course, will save you from getting mired in operating system malfunctions. Learn to troubleshoot drive, directory and file problems and develop maintenance techniques that can stave off disaster. Instructor Scott Jernigan will decipher the jargon, offering technical training that you can turn into cash. Students can register by visiting www.ourcoursescome2u.com.
