Canadian Heads Up Institute for Health Professionals

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Community College welcomes Irene Giustini as the college’s new director of Institute for Health Professionals.Giustini, a Montreal native who moved to Portland with her family three years ago, and previously was the chief operating officer of a Canadian teaching hospital in Ottawa for the last 13 years. There, one of her jobs was to manage professionals in charge of student training in the areas of nursing, physical and occupational therapy, psychology, social work, vocational counseling, speech pathology, dietetics, rehabilitation engineering, leisure counseling, prosthetics and orthotics. She has a bachelor’s degree from McGill University in Montreal and a master’s from the University of Ottawa."I have always enjoyed interacting with students and providing them with a quality educational experience,"said Giustini, a resident of northwest Portland. "I am thrilled to be working at PCC and in particular, at the Institute for Health Professionals where I can bring together my extensive experience as a manager in the health field with my interest in the education of health professionals."Giustini, who is fluent in French and Ukrainian, is a certified health executive with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives. She also acted as preceptor to students in the master of health administration program at the University of Ottawa.
