Gain appreciation for art while touring local galleries

Photos and story by

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Learn to view art through educated eyes by visiting your local galleries. Portland Community College will give you the opportunity with a non-credit class, Art Appreciation and Gallery Tours this spring. Artist and lecturer Madeline Janovec will lead this fun class, designed to develop a greater understanding of contemporary art. Students will learn how artists interpret the world around them through a range of interactive mediums including slides, discussion and field trips. This is your chance to understand the "visual language"through exciting pieces right in your own community. The class will meet from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturdays, April 19 through May 31, at PCC’s Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Field trip details will be discussed in class. Cost is $79. For more information, contact PCC Community Education at 503-533-2708.
