PORTLAND, Ore. – Don’t spend another lunch hour in the company of your computer. Instead, join Portland Community College for a stimulating series of free lunch-time lectures, designed to empower your decisions and increase your success with work relationships. The non-credit Downtown Lecture Series features a great lineup of speakers to jumpstart your afternoon from noon to 1 p.m. Thursdays, April 3 through May 8, at the Multnomah County Central Library, 801 S.W. 10th Ave. Topics are as follows:Part of Me Wants to Go; Part of Me Wants to Stay (April 3). Speaker J’aime Ona Pangaia will discuss how to honor your internal conflicts and make self-aware regret-free decisions.Stop Knee Jerk Reactions (April 10). Speaker Rickey Koehler will offer techniques for slowing down the momentum of anger and resurrecting logic and reason.Positive Visualization (April 17). Speaker Don Clarkson will teach how to focus your mind, power and energy to visualize positive changes in your life.Communication Style (April 24). What is the message? Speaker Tracy Shawn will show how knowing a person’s style can help you hear their message and more effectively communicate your own.Overcome Negative Thoughts (May 1). Speaker Julie Fast will explore how to quell negative thoughts and move forward to reach your goals and dreams.Giving Feedback (May 8). Speaker Dorothy Clingman will discuss how to become a better communicator by learning how to define expectations and give positive feedback.
