PCC gardening series plants roots for gorgeous spring

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Join Portland Community College for a non-credit series of gardening classes this spring – and watch your plots flourish. Cascadian Nursery professional Rod Smith will cover a broad range of topics designed to tackle the most popular gardening challenges. Home Gardening with Rod Smith will feature nine weeks of classes. Each class will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, April 1 through May 27, at PCC’s Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Topics include: Landscape Design (April 1), Improving Soil Conditions (April 8), Trees, Shrubs and Rose Care (April 15), Annuals, Perennials and Bulbs (April 22), Fruits and Vegetables (April 29), Lawn Care (May 6), Pest Control (May 13), Pruning (May 20), and Watering and Irrigation (May 27). Students can sign up for the entire series for $63, or register for an individual class of interest at $12 per class. An informational booklet can be purchased for $10 in class.
