PORTLAND, Ore. – Whether you’re planning to take drivers education in the evenings, or would like to complete the course in a concentrated one-week format, Portland Community College offers several options to fit your lifestyle. Drive and Survive, an ODOT-approved non-credit course, offers you the essential elements for preparing to take the driver’s test, and will help you become a confident, safe driver. Each course includes 30 hours of classroom study, six hours of one-on-one training behind the wheel, and six hours of observation. Students also receive a free four-hour advanced class within three months of passing the driving test. The class will be offered in two formats this term. Students have the option of signing up for an evening program, meeting from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Monday from March 31 through June 9 in Room 135 of Grant High School, 2245 N.E. 36th. They can choose instead to participate in a concentrated week-long format, meeting from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, March 24 through March 28, at Portland Metro Workforce Training Center, 5600 N.E. 42nd Ave. PCC tuition is $15; the Drive and Survive program cost is $340 payable in the first class.
