Annual Plant Sale takes root on May 7

ROCK CREEK CAMPUS – Looking for that perfect gift for mom for Mother’s Day? Then the Portland Community College Plant Sale is just for you. The annual PCC Plant Sale is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, May 7-10 at the Rock Creek Campus greenhouse, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. The sale is an excellent opportunity for people to purchase plants at affordable prices, just in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11. On Saturday, May 10, plants will be two for the price of one. This year, there will be at least 200 types of annuals, perennials, shrubs, vines and trees from which to choose. Also, there will be about a dozen different types of tomatoes, including super sweet cherries and a German heirloom that is hollow, for stuffing. Finally, there will be the ever-popular fuchsia, mixed flower- baskets and patio bowls for decks and hangers.Prices will be posted, and proceeds will go to the PCC Foundation for Landscape Technology scholarships and to buy instructional materials. The sale, hosted by the Landscape Technology department, has been a part of PCC for almost 20 years, exhibiting typical Northwest plants and exotic species from all over the world.
