Heavy equipment on show for Diesel Career Fair

ROCK CREEK CAMPUS – More than 350 high school students from Hood River to Banks and all areas in between, including Portland, Hillsboro and Sandy, will get hands-on with heavy equipment and semi-trucks at Portland Community College’s Diesel Day Fair. The PCC Diesel Service Technology department is hosting the third annual event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 25 in Room 117 of Building 2 at the Rock Creek Campus, 17705 N.W. Springville Road. The Northwest Diesel Industry Council and local heavy equipment and heavy-duty truck companies are sponsors of the event. PCC diesel students will serve as trainers with a number of stations set up in Building 2.Students will learn what today’s diesel technicians do in the field. They include air conditioning troubleshooting, anti-lock braking systems, Bobcat skid steer operation, electrical component troubleshooting, electronic engine diagnostics, and hydraulic system troubleshooting. The newest heavy equipment and medium and heavy-duty trucks will be on display for students.For more information, call 503-614-7488.
