Online version of new student orientation
Photos and story by James Hill
PCC now has an online version of new student orientation. This new orientation is a convenient and interactive alternative to the in-person sessions that are offered at Cascade, Rock Creek, Southeast Center and Sylvania. After new students have completed the application for admission and taken the placement test, they can choose which version of the orientation that best suits their needs. The online version is available 24/7 on the PCC web site (https://www.pcc.edu/pcc/nst/online_orientation.htm). We will continue to adjust the content of the online orientation as we learn how students use it.Kudos to the very dynamic group of PCC staff (they are listed below), which got this online orientation up and running. The committee has worked very hard to write the curriculum for the online orientation. Their insights and experience have helped define what should be covered in a new student orientation at PCC. More thanks to the advisors and counselors who have discussed content and a special thank you to Russell Banks for his help with this project. He has been an invaluable source of information and advises.Online Orientation Implementation CommitteeLinda Gettmann-Southeast CenterDon Aho-Rock CreekHope Pearson-Rock CreekCarol Farra-Rock CreekCraig Kolins-Rock CreekWiley Barnett-CascadeJohn Whitford-CascadePhil Hess-SylvaniaDennis Bailey-Fougnier-Sylvania
