Get a workout while you play ?urban recess' games

PORTLAND, Ore. – It is a secret the gyms don’t want you to know: you can get a pretty good workout playing freeze tag. Portland Community College can show you how with a fun, new non-credit class called Urban Recess.Once a week, rain or shine, students will meet at Willamette Park for aerobic fun and games. Instructor Teri Smith will lead adventurous games of freeze tag, kickball, dodge ball and more. It is recess for adults – your opportunity to exercise your inner child as well as your body."You’ll be having so much fun that you’ll forget you’re getting great exercise,"says Cecelia Barry, PCC Community Education manager. "It’s a full one-and-a-half hour workout without setting foot in a gym. Who said working out has to be boring or serious??The class will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, June 25 through Aug. 6, at Willamette Park, S.W. Macadam and Nebraska Streets.
