Become a solar technician with PCC training program

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. – Your passion for the environment can become your livelihood. Portland Community College will offer a professional training program in installing solar thermal and electrical systems this fall.Solar Thermal & Electric Systems Installer Training Series, worth 2.4 credits (continuing education units), will teach you the complete process of system sizing, orientation, configuration, load analysis, installation and service from the basics to the completed project. Instructor John Patterson will give you hands-on experience: you will tour existing systems, work on real projects and build solar collectors. Some sessions may qualify for the solar technical license through the State Renewable Energy Apprenticeship Committee.The series will meet from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday, Sept. 27 through Nov. 15, at the Mr. Sun store, 68 Touchstone Dr. in Lake Oswego. For the series the tuition is $75, with $300 payable to the instructor at the first class. Individual classes are $10 each with $45 payable to the instructor.
