Fifth annual job fair gives employers, job-seekers opportunities

NORTHEAST PORTLAND – Portland Community College’s Workforce Network will host its Fifth Annual Job Fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Portland Metro Workforce Training Center, 5600 N.E. 42nd Street. The job fair is a premier job-search event with nearly two dozen employers that include Fred Meyer, Kaiser Permanente, Target and many more. The job fair features free job-search workshops, on-site help with applications, free parking, and translation services for Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian and Chinese speakers."Employers are consistent in their praise for the job fair,"said Sandra Ferguson, PCC employment specialist. "In addition to finding qualified applicants, employers have praised the organization of the job fair and the quality of the candidates. Last year the fair drew nearly 500 job seekers."To date, employers who have signed on include: ADP, City of Portland Fire Bureau, Clackamas, Express Personnel, Fred Meyer, Kaiser Permanente, Target, Kinko Copies, Swan Island Dairy, Legacy, Multnomah County, Safeway, U. S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, Port of Portland, Fed Ex, Metro, PHC, Target, Ross, Housing Authority of PDX, American Red Cross, NW Natural Gas, PGE, Tri-Met, Gunderson and North Pacific Group.For more information, contact Ferguson at 503-528-3131.
