Iyengar yoga class offers practical approach for calm, focus

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Yogacharya Iyengar is best known for developing a style of yoga that allows ordinary people from all walks of life to experience yoga’s mental focus and body strengthening benefits. Now you can learn his practical style with an Iyengar yoga class, offered by Portland Community College.Yoga: Iyengar Level is an introduction for beginning students or those new to Iyengar yoga. Instructor Nuvana Zarthoshtimanesh, a native of India, will focus on improving your alignment with basic postures and paying special attention to standing poses and breathing. "This Saturday morning class begins your weekend with a sense of calm,"said Janice Dolan, PCC Community Education Manager. "Nuvana is looking forward to showing students how to achieve the benefits she has gained from practicing Iyengar yoga her entire life."The class will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, Sept. 27 through Dec. 6, in Room 1300 of PCC’s Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W.
