TWO ITEMS: Classes explore quilting, photography

BEAVERTON, Ore. – Quilting is a timeless art and a creative craft for all ages, featuring contemporary designs tailor-made for specific rooms in your home. Portland Community College can teach you to quilt, or refine your quilting skills, with an upcoming non-credit class.Quilt Making is a fun, interactive class designed for all levels. Beginning quilters will learn speed cutting, piecing, assembly and finishing alternatives, while advanced quilters will receive project guidance. Instructor Lynne Johnson is a fabric artist who will inspire students with her love of cloth and design.The class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Thursdays, Sept. 18 through Oct. 30, in Room 1542 of PCC’s Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W. Walker Road. Whereas other photography classes concentrate on individual shots, this class will lead students to place emphasis on photographing a theme, exploring a single subject from every angle. "It’s amazing to see how different people perceive the same subject,"said Falconer.The class will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 23 through Oct. 21, in Room 1541 of PCC’s Washington County Workforce Training Center, 18624 N.W.
