Smithsonian expert coming to Cascade

Smithsonian Magazine’s CultureFest is coming to PCC. This is a showcase of the Smithsonian Institution’s best and brightest and is a unique celebration of all things cultural, brought to life with performances, discussions and special events for the whole family. Nathan Erwin will present, "The Cultured Insect,"from noon to 1 p.m. on Nov. 7 in Room 122 of Terrell Hall at the Cascade Campus.Erwin is the manager of the Smithsonian Institution’s Otto Orkin Insect Zoo in the National Museum of Natural History, caring for and cultivating a large array of insects, spiders and crustaceans. He even traveled throughout Central and South America to personally collect some of the exotic specimens under his care. A world-renowned expert on insects, he has appeared on "Late Night with David Letterman,"the National Geographic and Discovery channels, the BBC, and countless news programs usually with live residents of the Insect Zoo.
