PORTLAND, Ore. – Increase your financial awareness and accountability while also gaining a marketable skill. Portland Community College offers a non-credit class in accounting, held entirely online. Accounting Fundamentals will teach you basic double-entry bookkeeping while also showing you how to analyze and record financial transactions. Students will be able to prepare various financial reports at the end of the fiscal period after taking this class. Tactics include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll procedures, sales taxes and other banking activities. "This online class was excellent,"read a recent student evaluation. "With my schedule, I would never have had time to complete it. Online, I could fall behind but still catch up on a day off, evening or weekend." Held entirely online via the Internet, the six-week class offers the flexibility to open lessons whenever your schedule allows and features discussion boards with the instructor and other students. The class will be offered three times this summer: June 16 through July 23, July 21 through Aug. 27, or Aug. 18 through Sept. 24. Cost is $79.
